Financial Transactions Defined
Basically, a Financial Transaction is defined as a joint business venture or the co–ownership of property between:
- A lobbyist and a public official;
- The employer of a lobbyist and a public official;
- The immediate family (parent, child, sibling, or spouse) of a lobbyist or the employer of a lobbyist and a public official.
If any of the three relationships above involve a joint business venture or the co-ownership of property, the O.R.C. requires disclosure of the relationship and the transaction or property involved.
Compensation between a lobbyist and their client IS NOT a Financial Transaction and should not be disclosed.
